Students in Media Art II will complete a conceptual/controversial art piece on Photoshop. They will learn about the works of Cindy Sherman, Banksy, and Sophie Calle. They will examine and discuss the works of various arts found on Deviantart.com in order to comprehend the power of conceptual art. The overall goal is to understand that art does not have to be a 'pretty picture' or something that looks realistic, but rather can convey a message or a belief in a visual form. Topics include and are appropriate and relevant to this age group include: abortion, smoking, drugs, self image, early responsibility, alcohol, friendship, homosexuality, sexuality, and self esteem.
Students can complete this project using a variety of mediums such as drawing and painting, however, must be completed using Adobe Photoshop.
